“You decide according to what you see and touch. I don’t make judgments like that. But even if I did, my judgment would be true because I wouldn’t make it out of the narrowness of my experience but in the largeness of the One who sent, the Father” John 8:17 The Message

How are you trying to live the Jesus-Life…?

You can’t live it on your own .. in your own strength .. through what you see and touch. If you are trying to live on your own .. you will discover the narrowness your life will settle for and seek to protect. The Christian life is Jesus … alive and at home in the life of every man or woman who follows him. You will miss the life Jesus longs to live through you if you are comparing your life to others. It is subtle how we do it .. almost automatically .. almost always suffocating .. and almost enough. You’ll miss the largeness of the Father’s love if you try to reduce life to something manageable and safe. There was nothing safe in the way that Jesus lived .. but He never feared the path he walked. You’ll miss life if you live by what you can see or can touch. Some spend their whole lives and miss the Christ-journey. They want a Jesus who rescues them in their messes … but don’t ask him to lead you today in the smallest details. He does want you to see. He wants you to see the world you live in through his eyes. Is there a someplace you go to see the largeness of God? Is there someone who points you to Christ .. not out of guilt or shame but in ever-expanding-grace? It only takes a moment …

“No doubt about it! God is good — good to good people, good to the good-hearted. But I nearly missed it, missed seeing his goodness. I was looking the other way, looking up to the people … Until I entered the sanctuary of God, Then I saw the whole picture” Psalm 73:1-3, 17 The Message

About Ken Chester

I love seeing Christ become alive and real in someone's life. It is amazing what happens when Jesus moves in and starts to renovate a life. When I'm not riding my road bike, I am usually walking our corgi named Trinity (she came that way) and corgi-lab named Lowrider. Carolyn and I are transforming our backyard. And a book is on the way. ...Stay tuned ... Ken
