“What I’m trying to do here is to get you to relax, to not be so preoccupied with getting, so you can respond to God’s giving. Matthew 6:31 The Message
The call of the Relaxed Life …?
How is it possible? It must be if Jesus invited you to learn how to “relax” in this fuss over it … fight over it … worry about it world. Jesus says you’ll learn to “relax” when you make God’s world the focus of your everyday life. You’ll begin to realize that God really does care about your everyday life. Too often .. it is the everyday “stuff” that we use to measure if God the Father .. the Son .. and the Holy Spirit really love us. We measure it by what others have. We measure it by how little we have. We even try to tell God that if He would settle all of our great needs … we would be more relaxed and available for His purposes. Jesus could have just listed all the God-rules that we needed to live by everyday in order to get more stuff. He could have made us feel so guilty or unworthy of asking God for anything. He could have blamed you for causing all your own grief .. your worry .. your stress .. your anxious sleep .. your margin-less pace of life. But .. He didn’t. He said that all these things are fought over .. gripped with fear .. fading away. Your real worth .. Your real beauty .. Your real nourishment is found in the only One who can “relax” your life in the midst of everything you will face today. Jesus wants to Live in you the same way He lived on earth. He wants your life to be a Lived-In Message. He’s not asking you to figure it out by yourself. He’s asking you to trust Him as He lives his life in you today. He knows everything you need. He knows your real needs. More than anything … Jesus wants you to “need” him today in every area of your life. All those other needs will fade against your holy need of trusting him .. loving him .. needing him today. It begins with a moment …
“When Jesus concluded his address, the crowd burst into applause. They had never heard teaching like this. It was apparent that he was living everything he was saying — quite the contrast to their religious teachers! This was the best teaching they had ever heard.” Matthew 7:28-29 The Message
