“For my part, I am going to boast about nothing but the Cross of our Master, Jesus Christ. Because of that Cross, I have been crucified in relation to the world, set free from the stifling atmosphere of pleasing others and fitting into the little patterns that they dictate.” Galatians 6:14 The Message

Where does your real strength come from day to day…?

People do it all the time … They stilt their worlds so that others will see “them” as good .. talented .. successful .. intelligent .. prosperous .. accomplished .. strong. They don’t intentionally set out to lie or mislead .. They just begin by moving the “bar” so that they are recognized. You may even know what moving the “bar” feels like on the inside. You just want others to see you as being a notch ahead. You aren’t trying to put anyone else down or deceive. You may have even been on the receiving end of someone else’s  attention drawing moment. And that is all it is .. a moment. One man was suitably qualified to claim his efforts and results as originating within his heart and mind. But … he didn’t. In fact, he claimed that his whole life had been freed from “the stifling atmosphere  of pleasing others” from their self centered dictations of acceptable behaviors. Jesus and the Cross mean freedom for you today. This is where you are to walk and live. The CrossLife kills everything in your life that is unlike Jesus. It takes time and God has declared that His love never quits .. gives up .. or runs out. This is the only life that gives you daily strength to face everything and everyone in your world today. Your real strength is Jesus working through your ordinary — sleeping — working — eating — errand running life. And it begins not by boasting but believing that what Jesus has done has forever covered you and changed your ordinary into a God-sized offering of grace. It only takes a moment. …

“So here’s what I want you to do, God helping you: Take your everyday, ordinary life — your sleeping, eating, going-to-work, and walking-around-life — and place it before God as an offering.” Romans 12:1 The Message

About Ken Chester

I love seeing Christ become alive and real in someone's life. It is amazing what happens when Jesus moves in and starts to renovate a life. When I'm not riding my road bike, I am usually walking our corgi named Trinity (she came that way) and corgi-lab named Lowrider. Carolyn and I are transforming our backyard. And a book is on the way. ...Stay tuned ... Ken
