“I’ve told you these things for a purpose: that my joy might be your joy, and your joy wholly mature. This is my command: Love one another the way I loved you. This is the very best way to love. Put your life on the line for your friends. You are my friends when you do the things I command you.” John 15:11-13 The Message

Jesus really means what He says about love …?

He was very clear about love. He didn’t hold back. He made it very clear about your life. Your day is supposed to be filled with the life-changing priority of loving others the way Christ loves you. And just how did He love you? He loved you when you didn’t love yourself. He loved you when you had given up hope of ever being loved by anyone … let alone God. He loved you when you He loved you enough to take away the very dis-ease of your being unloved, unwanted, and unacceptable. And in all of that … Jesus loved you so much he made you to be fruitful. He really does want you to know the joy of loving others and loving Him at the same time. It is to be a priority .. a first-things-first … head of the list kind of love. He loved you enough to tell you twice what the “root command” of your life is supposed to look like today. It begins with you. Are you starting this day by asking the Father to love through “you” like He did his son? It is not a temporary command. It will be the same tomorrow and the next day. But today .. you are chosen by Christ to love others in the world you live in. You can’t do it in your own strength. Your resources in yourself will run dry very quickly. Jesus reminds us that we can only bear fruit and love as we are “abiding” in Him. It means He is the source today … not an idea of loving … but loving others through the life that Jesus is living in me. It is the life you are meant to live and the life you have been reconciled .. restored .. and released to live as a follower of Jesus. His love is to grip you and fill you for this new day. But .. it is His aim for getting you ready to love another and He really means it. Are you ready to love like this today …? It only takes a moment …

“You didn’t choose me, remember; I chose you, and put you in the world to bear fruit that won’t spoil. As fruit bearers, what ever you ask the Father in relation to me, he gives you. But remember the root command: Love one another.” John 15:16-17 The Message

About Ken Chester

I love seeing Christ become alive and real in someone's life. It is amazing what happens when Jesus moves in and starts to renovate a life. When I'm not riding my road bike, I am usually walking our corgi named Trinity (she came that way) and corgi-lab named Lowrider. Carolyn and I are transforming our backyard. And a book is on the way. ...Stay tuned ... Ken
