“The Lord is my strength and shield. I trust him with all my heart. He helps me, and my heart is filled with joy. I burst out in songs of thanksgiving.” Psalm 28:7 New Living Translation

His strength or Yours …?

You know what you are facing in your life today: Pressures … Deadlines … Goals … Uncertainty … Feeling-All-Alone … Real Needs …? There is a very real .. though unseen .. choice in front of you as you begin the day. It is: Who is going to be my strength? Myself .. my resources .. my effort … or … The Lord .. The Indwelling One .. Jesus ? Are you going to look to the Lord first or exhaust your own supply and ask for His help? To say to yourself .. “The Lord is my strength” … is to know within yourself that apart from Christ you really don’t have the strength needed to live a life that loves God and others throughout the day. You don’t have to fake it any longer. You can just be yourself with all of your peculiar habits and patterns because underneath it all Christ is your strength. You don’t have to pretend because Jesus is no longer your last resort … He’s your first step. You don’t get there overnight. Along the way you’ll stumble and resort to yourself when you feel like God is late. What you long for is David’s deep trust: “He helps me and my heart is filled with joy.” Whatever is in front of your life today … you can know … you can have … and you can walk in the very real promise of God’s strength for your life. His strength will order your steps for the day. “For I can do everything through Christ .. who gives me strength”. You don’t have to be a Rabbi to say this. You can know this truth … this grace .. this gift of God’s love for you today. Christ wants to be your strength for everything you are facing in your life. He won’t force himself on you. He won’t criticize you when you make mistakes and turn sheepishly back to Him for help. Behind His help is a thankful heart … not forced .. not contrived .. just alive in His constant care. It is God’s longing for you to know His life as your strength today. And it only takes a moment …

“For I can do everything through Christ who gives me strength.” Philippians 4:13 New Living Translation

About Ken Chester

I love seeing Christ become alive and real in someone's life. It is amazing what happens when Jesus moves in and starts to renovate a life. When I'm not riding my road bike, I am usually walking our corgi named Trinity (she came that way) and corgi-lab named Lowrider. Carolyn and I are transforming our backyard. And a book is on the way. ...Stay tuned ... Ken
