“Christ redeemed us from that self-defeating, cursed life by absorbing it completely into himself …” Galatians 3:13 The Message
Do you really live like you are an original …?
An original what? A one-of-a-kind redeemed life that is living like God’s love has saturated every corner of your life. You know there are some rough spots but that isn’t your focus. Your living-forever-today life is focused on walking in God’s Spirit and “learning to love the life that Christ is living in me”. His life is both the big picture and the smallest detail. Living like an “original” is not a life apart from others but a life among others. It’s not a life withdrawn but a life poured out. A cursed life is self-centered .. self-focused .. and self-sufficient. No matter how good life gets it leads to living life alone … even among friends. It is exactly the life that Jesus “absorbed” into himself so that you could choose (by His grace) to find life in His Spirit and no longer live stuck being a basically good .. basically comparing .. and basically self-satisfied “you”. The life Jesus intends for you is not stuck in your head or just quietly felt in your heart. His life goes to work .. shops .. runs errands .. sends a note to a friend .. stops to speak a kind word even while being busy .. and lives a love language that reminds others of the “original” life that Christ offers them. Because an “original” life is filled up with the love of God … received and shared freely. God takes your life .. redeems you from dark prisons .. and slowly and assuredly changes you from the inside out .. so that you will know His freedom .. and trust His plan for your life. But it begins with you believing that you are His original .. and then living like it in the world you live in today. You’ll make a difference. It only takes a moment …
“Since this is the kind of life we have chosen, the life of the Spirit, let us make sure that we do not just hold it as an idea in our heads or a sentiment in our hearts, but work our it’s implications in every detail of our lives. That means we will not compare ourselves with each other as if one of us were better and another worse. We have far more interesting things to do with our lives. Each of us is an original.” Galatians 5:25-26 The Message
