“Christ has set us free to live a free life. So take your stand! Never again let anyone put a harness of slavery on you.” Galatians 5:1 The Message
How free are you …?
You are completely free! It is a freedom unlike any freedom you’ve ever known. The old freedom was about doing what you wanted to do … when you wanted to do it … and having the freedom to do absolutely nothing for anyone. We called it freedom but it actually was a prison … you were still stuck inside yourself with the same person you were before Christ set you free. You’ve been cross-freed … resurrection-freed … and “Christ-in-me” freed to live a new life. You are now free to serve others in love. And love is the great secret of freedom. You can pursue old paths but you’ll destroy your freedom and hurt a lot of people along the way. But the freedom Jesus gives you is the same freedom he lived on earth and showed his disciples for three years. It was a freedom to love His Father and be loved by Him. There were no obstacles in the way: not the past .. not selfishness .. not even all the lives healed .. fed .. delivered .. and forgiven. The freedom Christ has given you today is an indefatigable freedom to love God with all your heart .. soul .. mind .. and strength. This is the real you that Christ has called you to live today. He knows there will be countless distractions that seek to lead you back to your old ways. He knows there will countless attractions that offer you an “image” of freedom but without Christ. Either way … you’ll be wearing a slaves harness and not the wardrobe of love that serves and gives in the name of Jesus. You’re free … free to love others sometimes unseen by no one but God .. and free to love others in very visible moments as well. You’re free because Christ has set you free. You know if you are walking in the freedom that Christ has given you today. You know because you find your heart pulled to serve others .. to lend a moment .. to speak a word of kindness .. to offer forgiveness in His name .. to pay someone’s way .. to deny yourself and ask Jesus to use your life for hIs purposes today. True freedom is loving others the same way you love yourself .. and that is only possible when Christ has made you free. Free in Christ today …? It only takes a moment …
“It is absolutely clear that God has called you to a free life. Just make sure you don’t use this freedom as an excuse to do whatever you want to do and destroy your freedom. Rather, use your freedom to serve one another in love; that’s how freedom grows.” Galatians 5:13 The Message
