“Those who trust God’s action in them find that God’s Spirit is in them — living and breathing God! Obsession with self in these matters is a dead end; attention to God leads us out into the open, into a spacious, free life. … “Don’t put your life in the hands of experts who know nothing of life, of salvation life. Mere humans don’t have what it takes; when they die their projects die with them.” Romans 8:6 .. Psalm 146:3 The Message
Romans 8:6 The Message
How many times….?
How many times do you have to try to do something in your own strength, time, determination and resources before you learn this God lesson? When we strike out on our own .. even in the most simple of tasks .. we “put our life in the hands of experts .. we trust “mere humans” (read: you and me) to do what God .. in his infinite wisdom and Fatherly grace .. tells us that we can only do “through Him, with him and in Him”. So .. you try harder, work smarter, more focus .. and still you fall way short … project unfinished or project finished and in a small way you die with it! But .. there is another way .. another resource with unlimited strength .. with indefatigable patience and love….with ways that we cannot comprehend .. ready to provide you with exactly what you need today .. tomorrow .. an onward. He’s not impressed with our self-effort .. our horsepower .. our muscle .. or our determination. But God is amazed by our willingness .. and our surrender to His plans. Yes God is amazed because He is totally in love with you to the point of pouring ALL of His life and power into your life. How did God do His job of bringing you back from a life of being forever-stuck in yourself? His job description reads: Son-surrender. Our real job today …? Trusting in His goodness .. His grace .. and His promise to bring us alive in Jesus. If you’ve asked Him one time or a thousand times .. it doesn’t matter. His strength is limitless for you .. and it only takes a moment …
“It stands to reason, doesn’t it, that if the alive-and-present God who raised Jesus from the dead moves into your life, he’ll do the same thing in you that he did in Jesus, bringing you alive to himself? … Our Lord is great, with limitless strength; we’ll never comprehend what he knows and does. God puts the fallen on their feet again .. He’s not impressed with horsepower; the size of our muscles mean little to him. those who fear God get God’s attention; they can depend on his strength.” Romans 8:11 .. Psalm 147:5-6, 10-11 The Message
