“Take a good look at my servant. I’m backing him to the hilt. He’s the one I chose, and I couldn’t be more pleased with him. I’ve bathed him with my Spirit, my life. He’ll set everything right among the nations. He won’t call attention to what he does with loud speeches or gaudy parades. He won’t brush aside the bruised and the hurt and he won’t disregard the small and insignificant, but he’ll steadily and firmly set things right.” Isaiah 42:1-3 The Message
Just how big is God’s choice …?
He chose His Son because His choice had to be big enough to find you .. heal you .. and set you right. He chose His Son because He wasn’t an accuser but an acceptor. He chose His Son because He had to be big enough to become small enough to find you when you were disregarded .. cast-off .. small and insignificant. He chose His Son because you didn’t need to hear over and over from God how bad you were. You are already aware of places within your heart .. your mind .. and your life where God’s accusation would crush you and drive you into irreparable despair if He was that kind of God. That’s not who He is!!! God’s choice is big enough to shape you into “a whole and lasting life”. Just think: the bruised and hurt aren’t overlooked or discarded. That may or may not be you but it is surely someone who you know feels overlooked and discarded by God. And your message is that God’s choice is big enough .. real enough .. and true enough to include them! Jesus has come to set things right: the “broken and dislocated places” .. and the un-reconciled and un-restored places. Everyone who follows this Chosen-One comes to a place in their life where they need Christ to fill up their empty .. lonely .. and vision-less lives. He’s come to give you a vision of the world .. a world that God the Father loves so much. He loves it enough to come after you. How big a choice are you making today? Is it big enough to reach the world you live in? Is it small enough that the unnoticed are noticed? Are you loving those around you that are tortured and tormented? He is! .. And He’s chosen His Son to lead them back to Him. It only takes you a moment ..?
“This is how much God loved the world: He gave his Son, his one and only Son. And this is why: so that no one need be destroyed; by believing in him, anyone can have a whole and lasting life. God didn’t go to all the trouble of sending his Son merely to point an accusing finger, telling the world how bad it was. He came to help, to put the world right again.” John 3:16-17 The Message
