“But make sure that you don’t get so absorbed and exhausted in taking care of all your day-to-day obligations that you lose track of the time and doze off, oblivious to God. The night is over, dawn is about to break. Be up and awake to what God is doing! God is putting the finishing touches on the salvation work he began when we first believed. … Dress yourselves in Christ, and be up and about” Romans 13:11-12/14 The Message
Do you have time to see what God is doing …?
When you were “saved” .. you trusted in the finished work of Christ on the Cross .. you believed that Jesus Christ was/is Lord .. you accepted His free gift of salvation .. you surrendered your old life to Christ .. and you received His resurrection life into your life. In other words .. you began living your life on the foundation that it is only in Christ that life is worth living. Your old ways of striving .. striving harder .. living without margins .. deceiving yourself into thinking that you could control life’s situations .. and covering all the bases .. never really worked. It may have worked for you for a time but you couldn’t give it away so another life could be “saved”. You hoped that no one close to you would really see the real you. When you were “saved” .. your world: How you look at it? .. How you work in it? .. How you love others? .. all changed for the forever. You surrendered your old world in order to live and love out of God’s world. And then God did something so “unexpected”: He dressed you in His Son and placed you back in “this world” so that you could show “this world” what a difference life looks like through Christ. You’re loved unconditionally .. no strings attached! You’re life counts .. because life in Christ is real-time living. You’re eyes have been opened .. to see God’s world over “this world”. And now that you are “saved” .. you’ve got time to learn how to be loved by God and time to give it away. There’s even time to take time to let go of trying to make “this world” fit into God’s world. Your life in Christ is the real thing … it only takes a moment …
“Friends, let me go over the Message with you one final time — this Message that I proclaimed and that you made your own; this Message on which you took your stand and by which your life has been saved. (I’m assuming, now, that your belief was the real thing and not a passing fancy, that you’re in this for good and holding fast.)” I Cor. 15:1-2 The Message
