“Christ arrives right on time to make this happen. He didn’t, and doesn’t, wait for us to get ready. He presented himself for this sacrificial death when we were far too weak and rebellious to do anything to get ourselves ready.” Romans 5:6 The Message

Aren’t you glad God didn’t wait for you to go first …?

God’s perfect time to reach into your life was one of your worst times. You may have had several before He stepped in .. but the Lord knew and knows exactly what time .. what moment .. and what circumstances to step into your life with His putting-everything(in you)-together grace. He already knows how useless it is to just threaten you. Threats do not change a rebellious and weak heart. Grace does .. because the Lord knew precisely how fragile and weak you were when you tried to make life work without Him. It was not your good intentions or best efforts that won Him. It was the exact opposite. God saw you .. and sees us .. at that very moment when you’ve still got an ounce of fight and resistance in you that you think might win. And what does He do? He invites you into His life: “Follow Me .. Walk with Me .. Discover the unforced rhythms of grace.” Long before you ever nodded in God’s direction .. He gave His life for you. And that changes everything! You’re not ever going to be the same because His life is always leading you and drawing you closer and closer to the Father. His right time and your right time usually are at odds. But God is looking at all the layers of relationships that will go on and on and on. The great news for today is that Christ arrives right on time. He did 2000 years ago.. He did before Pentecost .. and He will return the same way. If God doesn’t wait for you to go first … why would you wait for someone you see who is resistant .. even hostile? Why don’t you cross over that unspoken divide between resistance and releasing? At your weakest moment .. Jesus was at His strongest moment on your behalf. He didn’t come looking for bargains. He came for Messiah-priced lives. He still does. And what about your life? It only takes a moment …

“All sin can do is threaten us with death, and that’s the end of it. Grace, because God is putting everything together again through the Messiah, invites us into life — a life that goes on and on and on, world without end.” Romans 5:21 The Message

About Ken Chester

I love seeing Christ become alive and real in someone's life. It is amazing what happens when Jesus moves in and starts to renovate a life. When I'm not riding my road bike, I am usually walking our corgi named Trinity (she came that way) and corgi-lab named Lowrider. Carolyn and I are transforming our backyard. And a book is on the way. ...Stay tuned ... Ken
