“About an hour later, someone else spoke up, really adamant: “He’s got to have been with him! He’s got ‘Galilean’ written all over him.” Luke 22:59
What kind of “reading material” does your life offer today …?
Your were created to be a ‘book’ … a God book. There really is only one story: that of a God so good that He personally becomes the “living book” for your life and of your life. The kind of ‘book” Jesus is writing is not one primarily seen in nicely organized paragraphs. Your life is a series of short chapters .. some of them stormy .. dull … uneventful .. chaotic .. struggling in brokenness one moment and standing in victory the next moment. Sometimes it seems like God’s agenda .. and other times .. His story gets you all turned around and can even feel confusing and open-ended. But it’s not. It is to be a “sweet scent” that points to the Lord. You’re not left helpless although it is how you may arrive. You’re not left all-sufficient in yourself but it exactly where you find sufficiency for living .. in Christ. When you spend time with Jesus in your everyday-life you discover that this same “Galilean” gets written all over you. Your thoughts begin to change. You quit fighting to stay in the lead. And finally .. you quit trying to force lie to happen and turn out the way you want. Life in an around this “Galilean” can end in front of crowds or being both a salvation fragrance and a salvation roadblock. It’s not up to you today to hold this all together. It is your life to keep in front of Him and avoid being intoxicated by all the cheap trinkets and false promises that offer you life on your terms … or in the very least as something where you stay in charge and in command of yourself. Literally .. you are to “give off” the smell of Jesus everyday. You will find yourself being all kinds of “messes” as you trust Christ today. Is He written all over you? You can’t pretend and in the long run you will not fool yourself or anyone else. In the meantime … it only takes a moment …
“In the Messiah, in Christ, God leads us from place to place in one perpetual victory parade. Through us, he brings knowledge of Christ. Everywhere we go, people breathe in the exquisite fragrance. Because of Christ, we give off a sweet scent rising to God, which is recognized by those on the way of salvation — an aroma redolent with life. But those on the way to destruction treat us more like the stench from a rotting corpse.” 2 Cor. 2:14-15 The Message
