A Natural Death …

“January 19, 2011

“But if we walk in the light, God himself being the light, we also experience a shared life with one another, as the sacrificed blood of Jesus, purges all our sin.” 1 John 1:7

Does it “all” have to go …? (2)

We are all born in this world with natural ingredients. One of those crippling ingredients is being born: “Natural Loners”. No one likes loneliness. It uncovers a void in your life and heart that the world is ever eager to fill and contaminate. Sin isolates you and makes you hide. You can hide even out in the open. You can hide by trying to deflect questions and curiosity about yourself into other topics. You can hide by staying isolated within yourself and avoiding others. It even happens in marriage when layers of shame turn into years of more isolation. Then Jesus steps in your world of being a natural loner … and He begins to lead you into community where you re-discover how valuable you are in God’s eyes .. and how valuable He wants you to know how valuable you are to Him. You’re valuable through Christ. It’s His life in you that turns you from being a loner to someone who “is alongside” .. a friend. And being “alongside” means entering into the mystery of prayer .. growing in the Holy Spirit .. and daily deepening your love in the love God has for you. It seems so easy .. to just let the first-things of your heart reveal themselves. Jesus steps right into the center of your life and urges you to grow deeper .. to grow slowly … and love completely. His invitation is very simple: Walk with Me … It only takes a moment …

“But you dear friends, carefully build yourselves up in this most holy faith by praying in the Holy Spirit, staying right at the center of God’s love, keeping your arms open and outstretched, ready for the mercy of our Master, Jesus Christ. This is the unending life, the real life.” Jude 20:21 The Message

About Ken Chester

I love seeing Christ become alive and real in someone's life. It is amazing what happens when Jesus moves in and starts to renovate a life. When I'm not riding my road bike, I am usually walking our corgi named Trinity (she came that way) and corgi-lab named Lowrider. Carolyn and I are transforming our backyard. And a book is on the way. ...Stay tuned ... Ken
