God’s Broken Watch

March 17, 2011

“He wants not only us, but everyone saved, you know, everyone to get to know the truth we’ve learned: that there’s one God and only one, and one Priest-Mediator between God and us — Jesus, who offered himself in exchange for everyone held captive by sin, to set them all free.” 1 Timothy 2:4 The Message

Do you give others real space and time to change…?

When it comes to your heart .. the real you on the inside .. God doesn’t seem to be in a hurry. And yet when something changes in you .. not through your efforts and energy but God’s .. it seems to happen so quickly it takes your breath away. In a moment you can go from abandoned to adored .. rejected to accepted .. excluded to exchanged. God’s secret…? He has a soft heart .. a huge soft heart for those trapped in sin .. incapable of setting themselves free. And then the Exchanging One steps into your world. His life for yours .. with all the time and space you needed to change. It all happens so quickly when God turns hours ..months and years into “Now”. Why…? Because God has a secret: He doesn’t want you left outside of His never-letting-go grace. How much space do you give others? All you have to do is look at how much time and space God has given you to melt away the chains .. free your heart to be loved .. and lift your arms in the wholeness of surrender. And now you have time .. God’s time .. and space .. God’s space .. to share and give away because you know that God isn’t late with his promise. You’re living proof …! It only takes a moment …

“God isn’t late with his promise as some measure lateness. He is restraining himself on account of you, holding back the End because he doesn’t want anyone lost. He’s giving everyone space and time to change.” 2 Peter 3:9 The Message

About Ken Chester

I love seeing Christ become alive and real in someone's life. It is amazing what happens when Jesus moves in and starts to renovate a life. When I'm not riding my road bike, I am usually walking our corgi named Trinity (she came that way) and corgi-lab named Lowrider. Carolyn and I are transforming our backyard. And a book is on the way. ...Stay tuned ... Ken
