What happens when Jesus prays…?

March 21, 2011

“I’m not praying only for them but also for those who believe in me because of their word. I pray that they will be one. Father, just as you are in me and I am in you. I pray that they also will be in us, so that the world will believe that you sent me.” John 17:20-21 Common English Bible

Are you living his prayer ..?

Jesus prayed for you and God .. your heavenly Father .. has been answering his prayer in your life ever since .. for over 2000 years.  In fact .. His prayer is life altering. We  often pray by asking God to bless our day .. guide our steps .. keep us from harm .. and fill us fresh with His grace for the day. Jesus prayed that your life would be “made perfectly one” .. just like the Father and the Son. And God has been answering that prayer in your life ever since. Jesus prayed you would have one heart and mind. Isn’t this the very spot where so much confusion and chaos breaks out: your heart and mind ? In fact .. Jesus prayed that your life would be living proof that God the Father had sent His Son. He didn’t ask for you to be perfect. He asked for your life to reveal the same love he lived with his Father. In fact .. He prayed that the world you live in would “believe”  in Christ through your life. So you see .. your life has been prayed over so that you would be the living evidence of visible grace. Your life…! Are you living his prayer today? Jesus is never in a rush when it comes to your life. Whatever you are facing today can be found in his prayer that your life would be one: Father-focused .. Son-serving .. and Spirit-indwelling. What if you prayed that way today for those that cross your path? ‘Make ——– one as Jesus was one with His Father.’ … ‘Father, would you fill ———‘s life with the same love you shared with your Son.’ …  ‘Jesus, help me today to live your prayer for my life.’ Your pace will slow .. Your focus will narrow .. and Your reach will expand beyond your imagination. Everything that you are facing as you follow Christ today can be found in this prayer from 2000 years ago. It only takes a moment …

“I’ve given them the glory that you gave me so that they can be one just as we are one. I’m in them and you are in me so that  they will be made perfectly one. Then the world will know that you sent me and that you have loved them just as you loved me.” John 17:22-23 Common English Bible

About Ken Chester

I love seeing Christ become alive and real in someone's life. It is amazing what happens when Jesus moves in and starts to renovate a life. When I'm not riding my road bike, I am usually walking our corgi named Trinity (she came that way) and corgi-lab named Lowrider. Carolyn and I are transforming our backyard. And a book is on the way. ...Stay tuned ... Ken
