The Pounding Heart

April 15, 2011

“When he was still a long way off, his father saw him. His heart pounding, he ran out, embraced him, and kissed him.” Luke 15:20 The Message

Ever been a long way off .. out of touch .. and disconnected?

You are never out of the Father’s sight. It  doesn’t matter how far you have traveled or how long it has taken you to find your way back. Your heavenly Father sees you. You make His heart pound at the sight of you. Can you imagine the God of the universe filled with a Father’s love “running” to meet you. And He doesn’t stop there: You are completely wrapped up in His embrace. His arms wrap around while you’re still smelling like swine .. or wherever you’ve journeyed from. Your dried perspiration and dirty face are the holy delight of His kiss. You can’t stop Him! God can’t get enough of you. And you can step out into this day with your hand “firmly” in His and go into the world wrapped and saturated in a “radical life-change”. What is God like? He’s kind .. He knows all your steps .. He knows everything about your life. He knows what you are facing and how you react. Whether you are a long way off or just around the corner .. Jesus isn’t waiting for you to make your way back. He already knows you don’t have the strength. So .. He comes running with a pounding heart, kissing and embracing you right in front of everyone. It only takes a moment to be wrapped up in the love of Jesus and changed by His kindness into a radical life-changed follower of Jesus.

“Better think this one through from the beginning. God is kind, but he’s not soft. In kindness he takes us firmly by the hand and leads us into a radical life-change” Romans 2:4 (… it’s His kindness that leads us to repentance ..NASB) The Message

About Ken Chester

I love seeing Christ become alive and real in someone's life. It is amazing what happens when Jesus moves in and starts to renovate a life. When I'm not riding my road bike, I am usually walking our corgi named Trinity (she came that way) and corgi-lab named Lowrider. Carolyn and I are transforming our backyard. And a book is on the way. ...Stay tuned ... Ken
