God’s Great Sell Off

April 18, 2011

“I paid a huge price for you: all of Egypt, with rich Cush and Seba thrown in! That’s how much you mean to me! That’s how much I love you! I’d sell off the whole world to get you back, trade the creation just for you.” Isaiah 43:4 The Message

The Jesus Road (1)

You mean more to God than all the wonders scattered around the world. You mean so much He traded the creation-creator for you. It wasn’t a second thought. He didn’t pause to consider another solution .. something less costly. He gladly traded everything He created to get you back .. to get you back safe and sound. Jesus goes even further to say that once you are in His grip He will never let go. He didn’t worry or fret for a moment about who would come running. He knew that the Father was running down prodigal roads .. reaching out to the bruised and beaten .. and restoring wholeness to the forgotten .. the rejected .. and the life-worn weary. Jesus never asks you to place a price on your life. You would have never said it was worth His life. Why not? Because in the hidden corners of our heart .. we cannot fathom that God the Father would trade his creation just for “me”. We’d like to think  there is something we’ve done that at least contributes to the road Jesus walked. It ‘s not about how much you think you are worth .. but how much God has valued your life. You know all those places in your heart or past where you were running away from the Father and yet He still didn’t hesitate to pay a “huge price” for you. The price of His love for you was everything found in Jesus. The road he walked down began in heaven .. not on a whim but upon the Father’s will. God was and is determined  to get you back with clean slate and a fresh start. That’s the road Jesus took for you. You’re worth it .. at least God the Father thought so .. the Son thought so .. and the Holy Spirit still thinks so! There is only one horn worth blowing today. It is the horn found on the road Jesus walked for you. He left it for you to blow .. and it only takes a moment …

“That makes it quite clear that none of you can get by with blowing your own horn before God. Everything that we have –right thinking and right living, a clean slate and a fresh start — comes from God by way of Jesus Christ. That’s why we have the saying, “If you’re  going to blow a horn, blow a trumpet for God.” 1 Cor. 1:30-31 The Message

About Ken Chester

I love seeing Christ become alive and real in someone's life. It is amazing what happens when Jesus moves in and starts to renovate a life. When I'm not riding my road bike, I am usually walking our corgi named Trinity (she came that way) and corgi-lab named Lowrider. Carolyn and I are transforming our backyard. And a book is on the way. ...Stay tuned ... Ken
