“Are you tired. Worn out? Burned out on religion? Come to me. Get away with me and you’ll recover your life. I’ll show you how to take a real rest. Walk with me and work with me — watch how I do it. Learn the unforced rhythms of grace. I won’t lay anything heavy or ill-fitting on you. Keep company with me and you’ll learn to live freely and lightly.” Matt. 11:28-30 The Message
Are you giving God his turn …?
Jesus knows how easily a religion turns into a religious noose. He watched it firsthand and then offered His hands to break the curse. It is amazing what God can make out of the pieces of your life. He could have demanded that we get our own act together before bothering Him. But instead .. He takes all those “tired” .. “worn out” .. and “burned out” pieces and He makes something complete inside of you. He breathes a fresh start into stress-filled lives. He breathes a fresh start into the neglected areas of your heart. He breathes a fresh start into the grace-script of your life. That’s the life story He is writing in you .. not the one you keep editing and rewriting for his approval. Don’t you see what Jesus wants for your life? He wants you to join Him .. first in your heart .. then with your mind .. and finally with your feet. You’ll recover your life in Christ. You’ll learn how He works. You’ll learn that even the most stress-filled moments of a day cannot suffocate you when you are keeping company with Jesus. You’ll find yourself alert to “God’s ways” of living freely and lightly. You’ll find yourself alert to God’s ways of loving others when you’ve got nothing else to give. How ..? By letting God put you back together. What does Jesus have to offer you today: A recovered life .. real rest .. unforced rhythms of grace .. a completing life .. a fresh start .. put back together .. and a grace-scripted life of opening your heart to His presence. Are you giving God his turn at your life …? It only takes a moment …
“God made my life complete when I placed all the pieces before him. When I got my act together, he gave me a fresh start. Now I’m alert to God’s ways; I don’t take God for granted. Every day I review the ways he works; I try not to miss a trick. I feel put back together, and I’m watching my step. God rewrote the text of my life when I opened the book of my heart to his eyes.” Psalm 18:20-24
