Grace Wins!

May 18, 2011

“All that passing laws against sin did was produce more lawbreakers. But sin didn’t, and doesn’t, have a chance in competition with the aggressive forgiveness we call grace. When it’s sin versus grace, grace wins hands down. All sin can do is threaten us with death, and that’s the end of it. Grace, because God is putting everything together again through the Messiah, invites us into life—a life that goes on and on and on, world without end.” Romans 5:20-21 The Message

Are you ready … because He is always ready …?

Life in Christ is about living in grace. And God is always ready to be extravagant with His grace. Why…? Because He knows how easily you succumb to fighting against sin and thinking that unless you do He won’t give you the grace to survive. Nothing could be further from His heart or the truth. Long before you were of any use to God .. had any possible interest in His help .. or even thought about asking Jesus for help — Jesus was already pouring His grace into your life. You probably didn’t recognize it then because you didn’t think or believe God would help until you asked for help or at least did your part. Sin makes you hide from yourself .. from God .. and from those you love. It makes you suspicious of others acceptance. Because if they really knew what you struggled with everyday .. you think or fear that they wouldn’t accept you .. or be willing to be a friend when you really need one. But God isn’t that way. He began loving you when you were trapped and powerless over  sin. That’s the way He is! Knowing everything about you .. God invites you into an on and on and on life in Christ. So .. you can walk right up to the Lord and ask .. and receive. You can do it because you know that Jesus really does understand what your life is all about inside and out. When it’s your sin versus His grace … His grace wins every time. Why ..? Because God is going to let you slip through His grace-gripping fingers. He’s put it all on the line by telling you up front that everything about you has been put onto Jesus and He is so ready to give you far more than you can ask. When you  begin to settle down in a life of grace you realize that your life now represents Jesus wherever you go. It’s the only life He has to give .. one full of mercy .. overflowing with grace .. indwelling with His life. And it only takes a moment …

“Now that we know what we have—Jesus, this great High Priest with ready access to God—let’s not let it slip through our fingers. We don’t have a priest who is out of touch with our reality. He’s been through weakness and testing, experienced it all—all but the sin. So let’s walk right up to him and get what he is so ready to give. Take the mercy, accept the help.” Hebrews 4:14-16 The Message

About Ken Chester

I love seeing Christ become alive and real in someone's life. It is amazing what happens when Jesus moves in and starts to renovate a life. When I'm not riding my road bike, I am usually walking our corgi named Trinity (she came that way) and corgi-lab named Lowrider. Carolyn and I are transforming our backyard. And a book is on the way. ...Stay tuned ... Ken
