Devoured by Grace

May 30, 2011

“When Jesus died, he took sin down with him, but alive he brings God down to us. From now on, think of it this way: Sin speaks a dead language that means nothing to you; God speaks your mother tongue, and you hang on every word. You are dead to sin and alive to God. That’s what Jesus did.” Romans 6:11 The Message

How much of you is enough…?

The gospel is the absolute and complete generosity of God’s love for you. What else does He have to do to show you how much your life means to him? But “do” He does everyday in your life because Jesus is alive and reigns forever as Lord and Savior. His life has devoured your entire life. Everything and anything in your life that could keep you from God’s love has been devoured in Christ. When says He will be your life .. He means your whole life. There are those “parts” in you that you see and think: “How could God possibly love me with this in my life.” He does. he can love you because His grace never quits! And if His life has devoured your life on the Cross .. how much more does He want you to live in the freedom of His indwelling life? Jesus devoured everything in your life that kept you a prisoner to sin and yourself. You don’t have to listen to that “old life”. How much of you does Jesus want? All of you all of the time. He wants you to walk and live freely in the freedom of belonging to Him. How much of you is available for God to show His love? It only takes a moment….

“But offer yourselves to the ways of God and the freedom never quits. All your lives you’ve let sin tell you what to do. But thank God you’ve started listening to a new master, one whose commands set you free to live openly in his freedom! Romans 6:17-18 The Message

About Ken Chester

I love seeing Christ become alive and real in someone's life. It is amazing what happens when Jesus moves in and starts to renovate a life. When I'm not riding my road bike, I am usually walking our corgi named Trinity (she came that way) and corgi-lab named Lowrider. Carolyn and I are transforming our backyard. And a book is on the way. ...Stay tuned ... Ken
