An On Time God

May 7, 2011

“Christ arrives right on time to make this happen. He didn’t, and doesn’t wait for us to get ready. He presented himself for this sacrificial death when we were far too weak and rebellious to do anything to get ourselves ready. But God put his love on the line for us by offering His Son in sacrificial death while we were of no use whatever to him.” Romans 5:6, 8 The Message

It’s amazing … really…!

At the heart of God’s kingdom is redemption. It simply means that time and time again you fail. It doesn’t matter how far .. how long it was going on .. how many times you promised not to do it again .. or how much you’ve tried to make up for all those times! He’s An On Time God. He’s on time when you take him for granted. He’s on time when you’re “living between the lines”. He’s on time when you could care less if God really cares about you. It really is amazing what God does in reaching into the utter depths of our lives. We know it in our heads that it is through his Son .. but when it actually reaches our hearts we are brought to a standstill. Because it is at those moments that you feel and know that it” doesn’t matter anymore because Christ has arrived on time with His love on the line for you. And who are you? You were His enemy .. perpetually late .. weak and rebellious .. and of no use whatever. And Jesus shows up in your life and you’re “on time” .. reconciled .. of great use in your saving life. Redemption transforms you into someone of great use in God’s kingdom. He’s done a work in  you that can be reproduced in another life because your life is available and on time through Christ. God not only redeems you through Christ but He gives you redeeming eyes to see the world you live in. You probably see a few of His enemies everyday and instead of shaking your head … you can smile knowing the He is An On Time God. He was on time for you and still is today. It only takes a moment …

“For if while we were enemies, we were reconciled to God through the death of His Son, much more, having been reconciled, we shall be saved by His life.” Romans 5:10 New American Standard

About Ken Chester

I love seeing Christ become alive and real in someone's life. It is amazing what happens when Jesus moves in and starts to renovate a life. When I'm not riding my road bike, I am usually walking our corgi named Trinity (she came that way) and corgi-lab named Lowrider. Carolyn and I are transforming our backyard. And a book is on the way. ...Stay tuned ... Ken
