“I’ll put muscle in the people of Judah; I’ll save the people of Joseph. I know their pain and will make them good as new. They’ll get a fresh start, as if nothing had ever happened. And why? Because I am their very own God, I’ll do what needs to be done for them. Their children will get in on it, too — oh, let them feel blessed by God! I’ll whistle and they’ll all come running. I’ve set them free — oh, how they’ll flourish. … They’ll sail through troubled seas, brush aside brash ocean waves. Roaring rivers will turn to a trickle. … But my people — oh, I’ll make them strong, God-strong! And they’ll live my way, God says so!” Zechariah 10:6-12 The Message
Redeemed … A way of Life.
It means: To buy or clear off .. To recover .. To exchange for money or goods .. To convert .. To fulfill a pledge or promise .. To make-up and make amends .. To obtain release and restoration. Living redeemed is an identity like no other. God started it all by telling you Who He is before He showed you How to live. It is as simple as trust: who are you going to trust today? Your history is the same as those found thousands of years ago: Weak .. Willful .. Lost .. Wounded and Hurt .. Scattered .. Struggling .. Chained on the inside and Chained on the outside .. Fearful .. and Stubborn. You are prone to thinking that God is angry and absent and hardly interested in your day-to-day life. That’s why He’s a Redeemer: One who creates Fresh Starts and a way of life that makes you come running. There are “troubled seas and brash ocean waves” found on dry ground. You can look so calm on the outside when in reality your insides are being tossed in every direction. Help us again, God of our help … and He’s already come running for you before the words leave your lips! In a world that confuses power for strength, He makes his Redeemed God strong who laugh and sing at the depth of His love. You can’t stay the same with God’s Fresh Start. Jesus has reclaimed you .. obtained your release .. and has restored your life .. maybe for the first time .. and always because He’s promised to do what needs to be done to save you as His own. Who are you going to trust today? It only takes a moment …
“Help us again, God of our help; don’t hold a grudge against us forever. You aren’t going to keep this up, are you? Scowling and angry, year after year? Why not help us make a fresh start — a resurrection life? Then your people will laugh and sing! Show us how much you love us, God! Give us the salvation we need! Psalm 85:4-7 The Message
