Life that breathes

July 6, 2011

“With your own hands you formed me; now breathe your wisdom over me so I can understand you.” Psalm 119:73 The Message

Most of us hate it when someone is so close to us that they are breathing on us. It invades our space. It’s too familiar or even threatening. And yet .. you and I cannot live without God’s breath breathing deep into our hearts. The christian-life without Christ is trying to live a life always out of breath. You never seem to catch up. You can’t seem to catch your breath. You never catch a break. The Life that God wants to breathe into you is so intimate that it literally and spiritually will take “your” breath away. The Lord loves it when you long to know Him .. to walk with Him .. and live a life in love with Him. He’s aware of all of the distractions that try to keep you from Him. He’s aware of those things in yourself that try to keep you from Him. He didn’t leave it up to you and for that you can relax and just receive the breath that Christ wants to breathe into your life today. You’ve been formed to inhale and exhale. It is effortless for most part. But God’s breath is miraculous because He “breathes” on you when you least want His breath near you. That’s not always the case .. but most often it is where we “feel” His grace-filled breathe. And it’s not just a one time breath. His life exchanged for your life was once and for all. His life-breathing in you is for today .. now .. for a life that is “pleasing to God”. This is often the life that we struggle to live everyday: a life that is pleasing to God. We can know that the future is secured but struggle to believe that God is for us even while we struggle and heal our of broken places and broken relationships. But He does!! What you see isn’t what God sees. He sees you personally and intimately in His Son .. learning to breathe the life He is breathing into you. His grace is that great for you today. It only takes a moment …

“Everything that goes into a life of pleasing God has been miraculously given to us by getting to know, personally and intimately, the One who invited us to God. The best invitation we ever received.” 2 Peter 1:3 The Message

About Ken Chester

I love seeing Christ become alive and real in someone's life. It is amazing what happens when Jesus moves in and starts to renovate a life. When I'm not riding my road bike, I am usually walking our corgi named Trinity (she came that way) and corgi-lab named Lowrider. Carolyn and I are transforming our backyard. And a book is on the way. ...Stay tuned ... Ken
