Picked up and set down

“Instead, immense in mercy and with an incredible love, he embraced us. He took our sin-dead lives and made us alive in Christ. He did all this on his own, with no help from us! Then he picked us up and set us down in highest heaven in company with Jesus, our Messiah.” Ephesians 2:4-6 The Message

It doesn’t matter when it happened. What does matter is that you know it was something God did in you. Maybe you’ve been a secret follower for years but His grace is drawing your life into something bigger .. more alive. It happens to all of “us” … anyone who is alive in Christ .. walking in His direction. It’s all His idea .. saving you .. embracing you with a love so incredible it melts away the layers of resistance. It’s His gift so that all you do is “trust” Him to do it. That way you don’t have to worry and fuss everyday over whether you’ve done enough or whether you’re going to finish this life in faith. God looks at your life with “all the time in this world and the next” to pour His grace into your formerly sin-dead life. You may wish God would work faster in your life. If He would only do “this” … then you think you would be more useful to Him. God’s not trying to frustrate you. He wants more for you than you could ever imagine. And yet He knows exactly where and how to work His grace into your life. You’ve been made alive in Christ and that is life-changing in every area of your life. You never become so old as to quit becoming younger in Christ. It is a shame when we let this world begin to shape our view of ourselves and how we should live. God wants you to trust in the “rest” of His Life becoming whole inside of you. It’s all He’s asking you to do. That may lead you serve others in ways you never dreamed .. but it’s because His grace is saving you from yourself and has saved you for His sake! What are you giving the Lord today from your heart .. your past .. your present .. and your future? It’s all His work .. and it only takes a moment …

“Now God has us where he wants us, with all the time in this world and the next to shower grace and kindness upon us in Christ Jesus. Saving is all his idea, and all his work. All we do is trust him enough to let him do it. It’s God’s gift from start to finish!” Ephesians 2:7-8 The Message

About Ken Chester

I love seeing Christ become alive and real in someone's life. It is amazing what happens when Jesus moves in and starts to renovate a life. When I'm not riding my road bike, I am usually walking our corgi named Trinity (she came that way) and corgi-lab named Lowrider. Carolyn and I are transforming our backyard. And a book is on the way. ...Stay tuned ... Ken
