Becoming a Name-dropper

July 22, 2011

But Peter said, “I do not possess silver and gold, but what I do have I give to you; In the name of Jesus Christ the Nazarene — walk!” And seizing him by the right hand, he raised him up; and immediately his feet and his ankles were strengthened.” Acts 3:6-7 New American Standard

Something happens when you give away what you have (today) “in the name of Jesus”. Everyday is different in the life of a Christ-Follower. Some days you seem to possess a full supply of life .. of hope .. of purpose .. and strength. Other days you seem to miss a step all day long .. never seem to get into gear .. feel purposeless .. feel stuck within yourself .. and battle old habits and struggles with fading reserves. What is true about life in Christ is this: Christ has become your life. The same Nazarene that helped a paralyzed man stand up is the same One who gives you strength to stand and face your day in His Name. He doesn’t just give you a hand up and then leave you to yourself. Jesus becomes your life in all that you do. He becomes that life because you begin to realize how much He loved you and how much He loves you today. Just as He gave Himself for you .. so you can give yourself to others in the Name of Jesus and they will discover a faith-hand helping them to stand up. It’s not always received with open arms. There are a lot of hurting men and women who are suspicious of any helping hand. You were that way once. It sometimesseems like everyone has a hidden agenda or unspoken expectations .. except Jesus. The real freedom He brings into your life is the freedom to give your life away. It’s no longer you who live your life .. but it’s Christ who lives His life through yours. There isn’t a list of rules. There’s just the law of love .. Christ’s love .. and your willingness to freely give away who you are in Him .. be it full of life or sometimes dry and feeling un-Christlike. He stays the same in you. It’s just part of living your life in Christ today. Are you prepared…? It only takes a moment …

“I have been crucified with Christ; and it is no longer I who live, but Christ lives in me; and the life which I now live in the flesh I live by faith in the Son of God, who loved me and gave Himself up for me.” Galatians 2:20 New American Standard

About Ken Chester

I love seeing Christ become alive and real in someone's life. It is amazing what happens when Jesus moves in and starts to renovate a life. When I'm not riding my road bike, I am usually walking our corgi named Trinity (she came that way) and corgi-lab named Lowrider. Carolyn and I are transforming our backyard. And a book is on the way. ...Stay tuned ... Ken
