Who’s leading your life …?

August 1, 2011

“Therefore as you have received Christ Jesus the Lord, so walk in Him (or .. lead your life). Colossians 2:6 New American Standard

You’ve been called “into” a life of faith. That faith rests on Jesus as the “foundation that makes your life worth living”. The day-to-day image of your faith is described as “walking” in the life you have in Christ. You’re not being forced into this life. The life you’ve been given or received in Christ is a life that is no longer focused on you first. Therein lies the day-to-day battle of living in a me-centered world and walking with a Christ-centered life. Your old life came with unspoken expectations and assumed patterns of how you were expected to live. That’s the very life that Christ crucified on the Cross. And even now you may face self-imposed pressures to conform to a way of life that makes you feel like life in Christ is something far off and not something that is true and alive today. You’ve been called to “walk” with Jesus .. or even better .. for Jesus to “lead” your life as you live for Him today. There are any number of things you can boast about today if you want to. But deep down only Christ will give you the grace and peace that will sustain you through seasons and circumstances. The world you live in doesn’t place a premium upon “walking” through this life. But walking implies that your life has room for others. And the Cross signals that Christ now has the “main rooms” of your life. In truth, Christ has all the rooms of your life but some of them are still under restoration. So .. if you want to boast today .. then boast about the One who is never going to give up on you. God’s not going to force you to “walk in Christ” today. You’ve been set free to “walk in Him” or not. It only takes a moment …

“For my part, I am going to boast about nothing but the Cross of our Master, Jesus Christ. Because of that Cross, I have been crucified in relation to the world, set free from the stifling atmosphere of pleasing others and fitting into the little patterns they dictate.” Galatians 6:14 The Message

About Ken Chester

I love seeing Christ become alive and real in someone's life. It is amazing what happens when Jesus moves in and starts to renovate a life. When I'm not riding my road bike, I am usually walking our corgi named Trinity (she came that way) and corgi-lab named Lowrider. Carolyn and I are transforming our backyard. And a book is on the way. ...Stay tuned ... Ken
