Everyday help

August 10, 2011

“I will ask the Father, and He will give you another Helper, that He may be with you forever; that is the Spirit of truth, whom the world cannot receive, because it does see Him or know Him, but you know Him because He abides with you and will be in you.” John 14:16-17 New American Standard

God never intended for you to live the Christian life in your own strength. We are so tuned from early ages to “try” life on our own talents .. to find ourselves in this world .. and to find our identity and sufficiency in ourselves. But Christ radically changes all of that. We lose our lives in Christ to find our lives and discover our identity is formed and held together by “Christ in me”. His life becomes our everyday Helper in the Holy Spirit. If you ever wondered how powerful God really is .. just think .. The One who let His body become nailed to a wooden beam now becomes your Help. And that Helper wants to live in you. You are His home address. And to help you out even more the Holy Spirit actually works in you the same love the Father has for you. And this love becomes God’s abiding fingerprints in your life. The love you share in Christ is unlike any other expression of love in this life. Jesus said He would send the Spirit of Truth and you would see Him and know Him. He didn’t say you would have to earn His love or His help. He’s sent the Holy Spirit to you .. To help you live the life He is living in you. And you need all the help He can give. It only takes a moment …

“He’s the one who told us how thoroughly love has been worked into your lives by the Holy Spirit.” Colossians 1:8 The Message

About Ken Chester

I love seeing Christ become alive and real in someone's life. It is amazing what happens when Jesus moves in and starts to renovate a life. When I'm not riding my road bike, I am usually walking our corgi named Trinity (she came that way) and corgi-lab named Lowrider. Carolyn and I are transforming our backyard. And a book is on the way. ...Stay tuned ... Ken
