“Your old life is dead. Your new life, which is your real life — even though invisible to spectators — is with Christ in God. He is your real life.” Colossians 3:3
Your real life is “with Christ”. Your old life is dead. Your new life is “by faith”. Your old life was held together “by you”. How close does God want to be in your life? He wants you to know .. really know .. that He is “with you”. You aren’t walking alone. In fact .. one of the hardest gifts to live out everyday is the gift that Jesus .. the Son of God .. wants to live His life “with you”. He’s moving in .. making a home .. creating in you something you could never do on your own. If life is with Christ then everyday begins with Jesus. It’s when you try to connect your life “with” something else besides Christ that you find yourself adrift .. exhausted .. and disappointed. It’s His life that holds yours together. You aren’t supposed to look like your life is perfect .. all smooth around the corners .. immune from temptations .. failures .. and struggles. The life you are living is one of faith .. trusting in Christ’s life rather than your own. It means Christ is aware of every detail involving your life. It means you understand why men and women struggle to live life on their terms. You tried that over and over until it just didn’t work anymore. And now … your day begins with this: “Christ is with me and my life is with Christ today”. Whatever is in front of me today .. I will face with Him. We have to be reminded that our old lives are dead. This world runs on the spent fuel of “old-lives” trying to make life work on their terms. Sometimes it is a series of little deaths throughout the day that remind you that Christ has moved in. This is a new day and your real identity is only going to be found with Christ. The gracious gift of God’s love is that faith can be found in a moment .. renewed in a moment .. and gripped in a moment. That’s why it only takes a moment ….
“I have been crucified with Christ; and it is not longer I who live, but Christ who lives in me; and the life which I now live in the flesh I live by the faith in the Son of God, who loved me and gave Himself up for me.” Galatians 2:20 New American Standard
