Passing it along …

August 26, 2011

“God, who got you started in this spiritual adventure, shares with us the life of his Son and our Master Jesus. He will never give up on you. Never forget that.” 1 Corinthians 1:9 The Message

It is the same thing everyday. You live in a relationship with Jesus .. an indwelling .. abiding .. grace-gripping relationship. You once tried to live without that relationship. Some men and women seem to go a long time without letting Christ fill up the center of their lives. They “do” good works. They try to “be” good. But .. something is missing. You can’t really pinpoint it in others. (Even if you think you see clearly what they are missing.) What you can do is share your life in a profound spirit of gentleness and patience .. trusting the Spirit in Christ “in” you to shine the light of His grace into their hearts and minds. God started this in you .. sharing the life of His Son .. gently reminding you over and over that He wasn’t going to walk away from you. In fact .. God shares everything up front: He forgives you completely in His Son and tells you He will not even remember your sin. Your life becomes His daily work in progress. You’re complete and being made complete. You’re whole and growing into His wholeness. And you get to pass along what you have seen in your own life as well as what you see Him doing around you. Why does it seem so difficult? Maybe it’s because we become attached to the fading items of this world. Maybe it’s because we don’t live as if we are really living and walking in fellowship with the Father and His Son. God has a way of placing our lives right in the middle of other messy lives. And you are there to let Christ be Christ .. the One who never gives up. He got you started and it only takes a moment …

” .. what we have seen and heard we proclaim to you also, so that you too may have fellowship with us; and indeed our fellowship is with the Father, and with His Son Jesus Christ.” 1 John 1:3 New American Standard

About Ken Chester

I love seeing Christ become alive and real in someone's life. It is amazing what happens when Jesus moves in and starts to renovate a life. When I'm not riding my road bike, I am usually walking our corgi named Trinity (she came that way) and corgi-lab named Lowrider. Carolyn and I are transforming our backyard. And a book is on the way. ...Stay tuned ... Ken
