God’s Full-Time Family …

“We take our lead from Christ, who is the source of everything we do. He keeps us in step with each other. His very breath and blood flow through us, nourishing us so that we will grow healthy in God, robust in love.” Ephesians 4:16 The Message

When you entered into a life-changing relationship with Christ (that means ALL of who you used to be is exchanged for ALL of who He is) .. you instantly became part of something called The Body of Christ. Membership isn’t optional. You’re in .. on the inside .. while God is working on the inside of you and patiently and purposefully to “reproduce His character in you.” He’s not in a hurry .. obviously. There are parts of you that you see and wonder how could God truly love what you think you see so clearly? It takes time to learn to trust that Christ is the source of everything that you are and that you do. Parts of your past creep in and sometimes leak out. And then there are those moments when you respond in someway that catches your breath because you know it was Christ in you that responded .. and not you. It was you .. but it was Christ. We’re called the church .. God’s family .. a gathering of believers .. sinners turned into saints .. saints capable of sinning .. alive in Christ .. and Christ alive in us. Your life is to be known as part of the robust-love ones. It’s not a love that can be manufactured from your old life. It’s certainly not a love that can be sustained by anything of your old way of life. No … your life is now filled with His breath and blood (seems impossible). It’s Christ’s life that nourishes you (miraculous grace). And because He is the source of your life Jesus keeps you in tune with others just like you. You don’t look the same. You don’t have the same backgrounds .. possessions .. positions .. or accomplishments. What you do have is the same Father who is fashioning His life inside of you this very moment. His assured promise is to shape your life in His love. God specializes in lives just like yours … and it only takes a moment …

” … everything — and I do mean everything — connected with that old way of life has to go. It’s rotten through and through. Get rid of it! And then take on an entirely new way of life — a God-fashioned life, a life renewed from the inside and working itself into your conduct as God accurately reproduces his character in you.” Ephesians 4:22-24 The Message

About Ken Chester

I love seeing Christ become alive and real in someone's life. It is amazing what happens when Jesus moves in and starts to renovate a life. When I'm not riding my road bike, I am usually walking our corgi named Trinity (she came that way) and corgi-lab named Lowrider. Carolyn and I are transforming our backyard. And a book is on the way. ...Stay tuned ... Ken
