When does Life begin …?

September 13, 2011

“Oh yes, you shaped me first inside and out; you formed me in my mother’s womb. I thank you, High God — you’re breathtaking! Body and soul, I am marvelously made! I worship in adoration — what a creation. … I will give thanks to You, for I am fearfully and wonderfully made; Wonderful are your works, And my soul knows it very well.” Psalm 139: 13-14, 14 The Message & New American Standard

Your life means everything to God. He formed you .. gave you breath .. and designed you to know a life that can live thankfully in body and soul. In the midst of all kinds of earth-flaws you are able to know how much God loves you .. adores you .. and gave “everything” so you could be whole. This fallen world lives in constant conflict over life: who gives us life .. what is life .. and when does life become valued and when does it cease being valued??? How much value does your life have? Son value. Your are worth God’s Son. It doesn’t have anything to do with what you have or haven’t done. It doesn’t have anything to do with how you were born. It has everything to do with how you are going to live. God’s value of life begins and ends with LIFE .. the One who is LIFE and the One who gives LIFE. When does it begin? It begins when God forms it. It begins to be whole and lasting when you start believing in the Life-Giver. You can be alive without the Son. But you won’t live the Life He offers you without Him. When does Life begin? Just ask the man or woman who can tell you when their lives ended and His life began .. in them! It’s not simple. It’s not a one size fits all formula. God began a work in you in a womb. He continued that work in you when you were lifelessly alive. And He loved you through all the layers of lifelessness that you’ve tried to make life work. All of “your everything” will not give you life .. but All of “God’s everything” will make you alive. Life in Jesus is not a self proclaiming possession. It’s a self becoming promise. You discover that your life and the lives around you are “fearfully and wonderfully made”. And you’ll begin to live differently Alive! It only takes a moment …

“This is how much God loved the world: He gave his Son, his one and only Son. And this is why: so that no one need be destroyed; by believing in him, anyone can have a whole and lasting life. … shall not perish but have eternal life.” John 3:16 The Message & New American Standard

About Ken Chester

I love seeing Christ become alive and real in someone's life. It is amazing what happens when Jesus moves in and starts to renovate a life. When I'm not riding my road bike, I am usually walking our corgi named Trinity (she came that way) and corgi-lab named Lowrider. Carolyn and I are transforming our backyard. And a book is on the way. ...Stay tuned ... Ken
