Uncomfortable Comfort …

September 15, 2011

“The Lord is gracious and merciful; Slow to anger and great in lovingkindness. The Lord is good to all, And His mercies are over all His works. … The Lord sustains all who fall and raises up all who are bowed down. .. The Lord is righteous in all His ways and kind in all His deeds. The Lord is near to all who call upon Him, To all who call upon Him in truth.” Psalm 145:8-9, 14, 17-18 New American Standard

God isn’t confusing about who He is. He does who He is .. and He is what He does. Your struggle today is whether you are going to believe and follow a God who is All that He describes Himself. He’s grace long before you realize you need it. He’s merciful over and above what you think you deserve. His love is great. That means the supply of God’s love is endless for you today. It’s hard to believe that the Lord will sustain you when you fall. The world you live in has sown seeds of “independence” and a “self-sufficiency” into your world. But the Lord has “spoken” and His Words will remain and bring hope and healing to the fallen. He hears when you call out to Him. And not only that: God steps into the sightless world .. the broken world .. the full of faith world .. the strangers world .. and still has unbelievable love and protection for the fatherless and widow. He could demand that you do all these tasks but what He does is work in your heart so that you can see. If you know that this is the Lord that follows you into your day … how are you going to live .. how are you going to love .. who are you going to be??? What is amazing is how gracious, merciful, slow to anger, and great in love is the Lord in your life. The real work He has called you to today is “believing” He is who He says He is. And in this great work … it only takes a moment …

“The Lord opens the eyes of the blind, The Lord raises up those who are bowed down; The Lord loves the righteous; The Lord protects the strangers; He supports the fatherless and the widow, But He thwarts the way of the wicked.” Psalm 146:8-9

About Ken Chester

I love seeing Christ become alive and real in someone's life. It is amazing what happens when Jesus moves in and starts to renovate a life. When I'm not riding my road bike, I am usually walking our corgi named Trinity (she came that way) and corgi-lab named Lowrider. Carolyn and I are transforming our backyard. And a book is on the way. ...Stay tuned ... Ken
