What Kind of People Does Jesus Really Like …? (4)

September 23, 2011

“That is what the Son of Man has done: He came to serve, not to be served — and then to give away his life in exchange for many who are held hostage.” Mark 10:45 The Message

Jesus went out of His way to serve. Or .. you could say that Jesus spent His whole life in the way of serving. He served the untouchable .. the undesirable .. the unlovable .. the unacceptable .. and the unwelcomed. His whole life was served and then exchanged for your hostage held life. What holds you hostage? Your past? Your inability to really believe and accept His life-exchange for you? Your own broken parts of how you look at yourself and believe others look at you? Hostage-taking more often than not begins inside of yourself and Jesus saw what it was going to require to free your life. There was only one ransom price to free your life and it was His life. That’s how much He likes you. His other option was to do some good works .. offer a working plan to lighten the burdens in your life .. and become a full-time spiritual teacher. He chose His only real option: to give away His life for you. So you get to begin your new life with a clean slate .. a fresh start .. and a free life to love God and not have to look bad. And Jesus goes even further for you: He is the One .. the One who keeps you on your feet .. who renews your life .. and holds you by His power to live everyday in His presence. The kind of people Jesus likes? He loves those who have a heart for God but have lived like hostages. He loves those who feel like they are forgotten and overlooked because He came to serve them and give them His life. He loves you .. He’s given life for you .. and He’ll keep you on your feet today alive in his presence. He likes the man or woman who is fed up with trying to make life work on their own .. or is worn out and weary trying to be good enough. He’s come to serve you today and it only takes a moment …

“And now to him who can keep you on your feet, standing tall in his bright presence, fresh and celebrating — to our one God, our only Savior, through Jesus Christ, our Master, be glory, majesty, strength, and rule before all time, now and to the end of all time. Yes” Jude 24-25 The Message

About Ken Chester

I love seeing Christ become alive and real in someone's life. It is amazing what happens when Jesus moves in and starts to renovate a life. When I'm not riding my road bike, I am usually walking our corgi named Trinity (she came that way) and corgi-lab named Lowrider. Carolyn and I are transforming our backyard. And a book is on the way. ...Stay tuned ... Ken
