Free exchanges …

September 26, 2011

“He wants not only us but everyone saved, you know, everyone to get to know the truth we’ve learned: that there’s one God and only one, and one Priest-Mediator between God and us — , Jesus …” 1 Timothy 2:4-5 The Message

The funny thing about your life is this: there are no written records of all or any of your un-exchangeable life moments. None. Your life has been “exchanged between” God and you in Jesus. It’s so incredible that you are left shaking your head every time. There is no record and you live in a world that keeps records. Your friends .. spouse .. and others may have some images of your past but they cannot point to any written record with your name on it. There are any number of records kept today but not one of them will keep you “held captive by sin”. Your life has been set free .. set free to live a life that is God-pointed and God-promised. When Jesus “exchanged” his life for yours .. He loosened all those areas of your life that has held you in fear .. shame .. and guilt .. and anger. It’s not easy to let go of those areas that appear to be so well managed and hidden away in your heart .. but Jesus offers you His life. And the truth is that His life is eventually “going to get out” if you are serious about exchanging your life for His. It takes time to build a daily walk with a Priest-Mediator who isn’t trying to guilt you into anything. He wants you to be free .. free to live your life because it will only make sense to you .. your family .. and friends if Jesus is making you whole inside and out. He gladly accepts free exchanges from you. You can carry them around for years until you’re tired of carrying “that” thing in your heart any longer. As your day unfolds .. listen for His voice whispering to you that were worth and continue to be worth the one and only exchange between Jesus and your heavenly Father. It’s whole lot better to start and end with His life than with your life trying to live up to all the “should do”s”. Jesus didn’t save you because He wanted you idle or detached from living in this fallen world. He saved you because He wanted to get His life in you so that you would now let His life get out through you. It only takes a moment … all exchanges are free on your end.

” .. who offered himself in exchange for everyone held captive by sin, to set them all free. Eventually the news is going to get out.” 1 Timothy 2:6 The Message

About Ken Chester

I love seeing Christ become alive and real in someone's life. It is amazing what happens when Jesus moves in and starts to renovate a life. When I'm not riding my road bike, I am usually walking our corgi named Trinity (she came that way) and corgi-lab named Lowrider. Carolyn and I are transforming our backyard. And a book is on the way. ...Stay tuned ... Ken
