Everybody has “shoes” …

September 27, 2011

“Because Jesus was raised from the dead, we’ve been given a brand-new life and have everything to live for, including a future in heaven — and the future starts now! 1 Peter 1:4 The Message

You’ve got ’em. Everybody does. You were born with them but they weren’t on your feet. They were in your heart. Issues .. “shoes” .. we’ve all got them. Some people seem to have more “shoes” than others. You can inherit some but most of your “shoes” are formed out of your life. They’re your “shoes” and God has stepped right into the center of your “ish-shoes”. In fact .. he’s worn your ish-shoes and they were buried with Him. And He’s returned to give you a “brand-new life” with “everything to live for”. Your old life didn’t carry that kind of promise. Your ish-shoes would often try to disqualify you or drive you into despair thinking there would never be another way. (Maybe they still do today?) But Jesus … He life became the perfect “ish-shoe” for your life. When you put on His life .. you put on everything about Him .. and His life is custom-fitted to your life and your imperfect life becomes part of His perfecting life in you. It is amazing that Jesus isn’t turned away by your ish-shoes. Why isn’t He? Because His life was the perfect-issue for everything about your life. Hard times .. struggles .. uncertainty .. temptations .. guilt .. fear .. surrender …? There are no ish-shoes outside of His great love for you and His perfecting life in you. Sometimes it feels like there aren’t any changes but His perfect life is perfecting His life in you at this moment. He is perfecting His life .. not your life .. but His life in you. And because of His raised-from-the-dead life, your life is changing as well. Everybody has “shoes” … and it only takes a moment …

“It was a perfect sacrifice by a perfect person to perfect some very imperfect people.” Hebrews 10:14 The Message

About Ken Chester

I love seeing Christ become alive and real in someone's life. It is amazing what happens when Jesus moves in and starts to renovate a life. When I'm not riding my road bike, I am usually walking our corgi named Trinity (she came that way) and corgi-lab named Lowrider. Carolyn and I are transforming our backyard. And a book is on the way. ...Stay tuned ... Ken
