Successful living …?

October 28, 2011

“The Message that points to Christ on the Cross seems like sheer silliness to those hellbent on destruction, but for those on the way of salvation it makes perfect sense. This is the way God works, and most powerfully as it turns out. It is written, “I’ll turn conventional wisdom on its head, I’ll expose so-called experts as crackpots”.” 1 Cor. 1:18-19 The Message

The world you live in wants you to be “wildly successful …. without Christ”. The enemy of every Christ-follower wants you to fill your life with anything that will give you security …. without Christ. The earth-bound-liar wants you to find “your self” …. without Christ. But you have a Message: Your life is a clean slate and fresh start …. with Christ. It doesn’t make sense to life-experts who spin webs of an ideal life …. without Christ. But you have a Message: The Cross is God’s final statement that life is broken and cannot be fixed …. without Christ! You already know that people will exhaust themselves trying to make life fit into their expectations … just like you once did before Jesus stepped into your life. He didn’t condemn you or mock you for choosing your own way. He just met you right where you were and invited you to follow Him into the real life that is anchored …. in Him. God isn’t going to force you to carry a cross around or be someone you are not. But He does want your life to be fresh and for you to know the clean slate your life has become in Christ. We are so prone to forget this great fact. You don’t have to carry around all that baggage from your past or review all your failures. All you can really do is invite Him into “all” of the places of your life. And that … with Christ … only takes a moment …

“Everything that we have — right thinking and right living, a clean slate and a fresh start — comes from God by way of Jesus Christ. That’s why we have the saying. “If you’re going to blow a horn, blow a trumpet for God.” 1 Cor. 1:31 The Message

About Ken Chester

I love seeing Christ become alive and real in someone's life. It is amazing what happens when Jesus moves in and starts to renovate a life. When I'm not riding my road bike, I am usually walking our corgi named Trinity (she came that way) and corgi-lab named Lowrider. Carolyn and I are transforming our backyard. And a book is on the way. ...Stay tuned ... Ken
