High Risk lives …

November 4, 2011

“For He himself is our peace, who made both groups into one and broke down the barrier of the dividing wall.” Ephesians 2:14 New American Standard

Peace is one of those “inner houses” we want to live in or run to when life is coming apart or wounds are opened up. We think: ‘If I could just go ( where? ) I would find some peace. If I could just get rid of ( what? ) I would find peace. If I could just be like ( who? ) I would have peace in my life. But God has always known that you will never find real peace .. the kind that holds you together in storms .. the kind that calms you when you are suffocating .. and the kind that fills in the empty places in your heart. So He stepped into our high risk lives. We’re high risk because without him there are no guarantees or enough resources to fix our lives. We don’t like to think that “I” .. “me” .. am a high risk. Maybe somebody else .. but not me. You are in the same boat with everybody else. And Jesus steps into your life. On top of it all He meets you at the worst places and most inopportune moments to be your peace. He is our real peace. His life became our peace. He gives us His peace. He even guards us with peace. It is His Peace-making life that enables us to make true peace with each other. It is His Peace-making life that steps into those storms and meets us when everything and everyone is closing in all around us. The peace that Jesus offers you is Himself. And He always knows where you need His peace. He sees beyond the circumstances and beneath the masks. He doesn’t find fault or assign blame. He makes peace by first settling those areas in you that are in conflict. He’s not in a hurry and you can’t rush Him. Jesus is in the peace-making business and wants you to be in the same business as well. He’s just asking for you to be available to step into peace-less lives in His name. He’ll do the work through you. Are you prepared to receive the peace that Jesus offers you today? It only takes a moment …

“Not only that, but all the broken and dislocated pieces of the universe — people and things, animals and atoms — get properly fixed and fitted together in vibrant harmonies, all because of his death, his blood that poured down from the cross.” Colossians 1:20 The Message

About Ken Chester

I love seeing Christ become alive and real in someone's life. It is amazing what happens when Jesus moves in and starts to renovate a life. When I'm not riding my road bike, I am usually walking our corgi named Trinity (she came that way) and corgi-lab named Lowrider. Carolyn and I are transforming our backyard. And a book is on the way. ...Stay tuned ... Ken
