Long-range Disruption

Dec. 5, 2011

“He set it all out before us in Christ, a long-range plan in which everything would be brought together and summed up in him, everything in deepest heaven, everything on planet earth.” Ephesians 1:10 The Message

When God is in a hurry everything seems to slow down .. and when God slows down everything seems to happen in a moment. There isn’t one moment .. a minute .. a day .. a month .. a season .. or a year of your life that isn’t perfectly summed up in Jesus Christ. It’s only His life that makes sense of your life with all of it’s broken parts and all of it’s working-pretty-well parts. We twist and struggle over keeping our options open or insisting on having the final say .. or a least the “freedom” to choose. That doesn’t seem to slow God down for a moment. In Christ God works through all of your personal demands as well as all of your surrendered ones. He’s not trying to make you into one pattern. He’s in the business .. a holy one if you understand Him correctly .. of making your life whole and holy in Christ. That means He was working all through the lives and moments of a freed nation of former slaves .. a promised land building family .. and even in a bunch of exiles who found that true freedom always rested in surrendering the enslaving freedom that turned them into exiles. It’s the same today. We don’t think of ourselves as exiles .. unless you’ve crossed borders or found yourself abandoned from families. It still happens in various forms .. all of which God is working out His long-range plan. Some of his disruptions seem invasive and some of them are intensive care. Through it all the Lord is working with “all” of who you are: spirit — soul –and body. What comes next? Only He knows … but He is completely dependable. What are you going to hold on to today .. or are you going to let Jesus make you fit for His whole-making plan in you? Choice…? It only takes a moment …

“May God himself, the God who makes everything holy and whole, make you holy and whole, put together-spirit, soul, and body — and keep you fit for the coming of our Master, Jesus Christ. The One who called you is completely dependable. If he said it, he’ll do it!” 1 Thes. 5:23-24 The Message

About Ken Chester

I love seeing Christ become alive and real in someone's life. It is amazing what happens when Jesus moves in and starts to renovate a life. When I'm not riding my road bike, I am usually walking our corgi named Trinity (she came that way) and corgi-lab named Lowrider. Carolyn and I are transforming our backyard. And a book is on the way. ...Stay tuned ... Ken
