Watching our Disruption

December 15, 2011

“From high in the skies God looks around, he sees all Adam’s brood. From where he sits he overlooks all us earth-dwellers. He has shaped each person in turn; now he watches everything we do. No king succeeds with a big army alone, no warrior wins by brute strength. Horsepower is not the answer; no one gets by on muscle alone. .. Behold, the eyes of the Lord is on those who fear Him, On those who hope for His lovingkindness …” Ps. 33:13-17, 18 The Message/New American Standard

Every moment of your life is in God’s hands. Nothing is overlooked .. discarded .. or rejected. Why not…? Because the Lord watches how we try to protect ourselves with our own strength .. our own armies .. and our own sheer efforts to fight battles we cannot win. What catches His attention is when He sees you place your hope is His lovingkindness. That’s not just wishful thinking but an intentional trust that His love is transforming over everything you are facing in your life. And those who are waiting in this hope know that this Jesus is the One who’s overcome .. who’s conquered .. and who alone has the power to open the final book of your life. All the events of the Old Testament and the New Testament come together in His time .. not our time. We are called to be alert .. to be ready .. to look forward .. and to be fully alive in this hand-wringing world. The only Fully-Alive-Life that has ever lived is Jesus. He had armies at his disposal. He spoke into storms .. He spit into blind eyes .. and He wrote in the dirt to free a woman caught in her broken life of sin. And to those who place their hope is His lovingkindness .. His steadfast love .. His slow to anger love .. He says: “Neither do I condemn you … go and sin no more” . That’s only possible when you grasp the lovingkindness of the Cross and that the only army that fights for you is led by a nail-scarred Lion. It only takes a moment …

“Stop weeping; behold the Lion that is from the tribe of Judah, the Root of David, has overcome so as to open the book and its seven seals.” Rev. 5:5 New American Standard

About Ken Chester

I love seeing Christ become alive and real in someone's life. It is amazing what happens when Jesus moves in and starts to renovate a life. When I'm not riding my road bike, I am usually walking our corgi named Trinity (she came that way) and corgi-lab named Lowrider. Carolyn and I are transforming our backyard. And a book is on the way. ...Stay tuned ... Ken
