God’s Building Program …

January 5, 2012

“Jesus Christ is the same yesterday and today and forever.” Hebrews 13:8 New American Standard

It doesn’t matter how you got “here” … in Christ. But everyone who got “here” arrived the same way: through the incarnational .. sinless life .. atoning sacrifice .. death-burial-and resurrection of the One who is the Same for everyone who gets “here”. Without Him you are just wandering exiles trying to convince yourself and everyone around you that you really are in or have some sort of control over your life. This Jesus is the same over the “yesterdays” of your life. You’re part of God’s building program. Your name is Christian .. a Christ one .. a man or woman whose life is “in Christ’! That means your whole life is in Christ .. even the unfinished parts you think are unfinished. He doesn’t look at it that way but He knows you do. God’s building a home and you are much needed and deeply wanted for what he is building. What’s known today is uncertain except to the One who is the Same today. Jesus is going to love you exactly the same as He loved you yesterday. There are all kinds of diversions .. distractions .. and distortions that try to steal this anchoring truth from your heart. Sometimes those assaults seem to never let up or they ambush you when your guard is down. You can try to blame yourself but it isn’t going to change who Jesus Christ is in your life. He is the Same .. Yesterday – Today – and Forever. He’s not going to change that Cross-exchanged deal you’ve made with Him. And whatever happens today: He is the One who is holding all the parts together. It’s not up to you to hold it all together. Your part? To trust Him .. believe Him .. and let go of anything you’re holding onto besides Him. Jesus is Who he says He is. You have a true home in Christ. You belong here … and it only takes a moment …

“That’s plain enough, isn’t it? You’re no longer wandering exiles. This kingdom of faith is now your home country. You’re no longer strangers or outsiders. You belong here, with as much right to the name Christian as anyone. God is building a home. He’s using us all — irrespective of how we got here — in what he is building. He used the apostles and prophets for the foundation. Now he’s using you, fitting you in brick by brick, stone by stone, with Christ Jesus as the cornerstone that holds all the parts together.” Ephesians 2:19-21 The Message

About Ken Chester

I love seeing Christ become alive and real in someone's life. It is amazing what happens when Jesus moves in and starts to renovate a life. When I'm not riding my road bike, I am usually walking our corgi named Trinity (she came that way) and corgi-lab named Lowrider. Carolyn and I are transforming our backyard. And a book is on the way. ...Stay tuned ... Ken
