God’s Forever Focus

April 23, 2012

“Where is the god who can compare to you– wiping the slate clean of guilt, Turning a blind eye, a deaf ear, to the past sins of your purged and precious people? You don’t nurse your anger and don’t stay angry long, for mercy is your specialty. That’s what you love most. And compassion is on its way to us. You’ll stamp out our wrongdoing. You’ll sink our sins to the bottom of the ocean.” Micah 7:18-19 The Message

Everything about your life is part of God’s specialty. He’s wiped the “slate” of your life clean .. no more guilt. Nothing of your past ever haunts Him when He looks at you. What He loves most is loving you with mercy .. loving you with such a love that He can’t change from loving you completely. And when you’re at the end of your rope The Lord is there with a full supply of compassion .. an understanding so deep that it penetrates through all the sun-baked layers of living in a fallen sin-filled world. But it’s okay because He has made you a blessing in His sight. He sees you through His Son and you are the whole and holy focus of His love today. You don’t think you deserve it? You don’t think you’re worthy enough? You don’t think it’ll last because God will suddenly realize He made a mistake with you? The Lord loves you so much that stamped forever across your heart .. written upon your heart .. and whispered continuously into your mind is the word: Adopted! You’re mine. You belong to Me. Everything about you is stamped with the indefatigable grip of Jesus. He’s not going to let go of your life for one second .. look away for one minute .. or forget you exist for one hour. He can’t because you’ve been made alive through His Son Jesus and that matter is forever settled. That means today your life is His focus .. and it only takes a moment …

“How blessed is God! And what a blessing he is! He’s the Father of our Master, Jesus Christ, and takes us to the high places of blessing in him. Long before he laid down earth’s foundations, he had us in mind, had settled on us as the focus of his love, to be made whole and holy by his love. Long, long ago he decided to adopt us into his family through Jesus Christ.” Ephesians 1:3-5 The Message

About Ken Chester

I love seeing Christ become alive and real in someone's life. It is amazing what happens when Jesus moves in and starts to renovate a life. When I'm not riding my road bike, I am usually walking our corgi named Trinity (she came that way) and corgi-lab named Lowrider. Carolyn and I are transforming our backyard. And a book is on the way. ...Stay tuned ... Ken
