Remember … again and again and again …

April 24, 2012

“Remember these things, O Jacob. Take it seriously Israel, that you’re my servant. I made you, shaped you: You’re my servant. O Israel, I’ll never forget you. I’ve wiped the slate of all your wrongdoings. There’s nothing left of your sins. Come back to me, come back. I’ve redeemed you.” Isaiah 44:21-22 The Message

God’s given you a great gift: the gift to “remember”. He wrote it down because He knows you forget .. and He doesn’t hold it against you. So He wrote it down when you do forget and you could see it with your own eyes and see that He has called to be His servant. He’s called you and to show you how serious He is about His call upon your life: He’s redeemed you. He’s paid for all those times you’ve forgotten .. for all those things you can’t remember .. for all those moments you’ve turned your back on Him and tried your own way. He’s redeemed you and He’s written it down so that you will remember that He will “never forget you”. He’s written it down inside your heart where Christ lives .. risen and alive in you. HE is your REAL LIFE. You won’t find it anywhere else. There is nothing outside of Christ that will give you life. God has never tired of reminding you that truth of who He is and who you are in Him. Your real life is invisible to spectators. Spectators: that’s what every man or woman is without Christ. They’re merely watching and wondering at what they see in you. They wonder if it is REAL. And you show them what is real by serving them in the name and reality of Jesus who lives in you. What God has done in you is real .. real life with a real calling to be a real servant of Jesus Christ. So remember .. and when you forget .. remember again and again .. who you are in Christ. It only takes a moment …

“Your old life is dead. Your new life, which is your real life — even though invisible to spectators — is with Christ in God. He is your life. When Christ (your real life, remember) shows up again on this earth, you’ll show up, too — the real you, the glorious you. Meanwhile, be content with obscurity, like Christ.” Colossians 3:3-4 The Message

About Ken Chester

I love seeing Christ become alive and real in someone's life. It is amazing what happens when Jesus moves in and starts to renovate a life. When I'm not riding my road bike, I am usually walking our corgi named Trinity (she came that way) and corgi-lab named Lowrider. Carolyn and I are transforming our backyard. And a book is on the way. ...Stay tuned ... Ken
