Housecleaning and Renovation …

April 28, 2012

“Do you see what we’ve got? An unshakable kingdom! And do you see how thankful we must be? Not only thankful, but brimming with worship, deeply reverent before God. For God is not an indifferent bystander. He’s actively cleaning house, torching all that needs to burn, and he won’t quit until it’s all cleansed. God himself is (Consuming) Fire.” Hebrews 12:28-29 The Message

A follower of Jesus breathes fresh air through the finished work of Christ on the Cross. It is a new life .. forgiven .. free .. and a life filled with God’s relentless grace. It’s relentless because God is “actively cleaning house” and renovating your life in Christ. He’s putting your life together for His kingdom .. an unshakable kingdom. It’s so easy to become snared and entangled in this world that you lose sight of the real world you have been made to live in forever. Sometimes that world seems other-worldly and something you look forward to much later because you have to figure out how to maneuver in this world. That’s the lie that gets whispered and marketed to convince you that the old air you used to breathe is till okay until you reach your future home. But God isn’t an “innocent bystander”. He never has been. Jesus knew about suffering firsthand. He knows what you have confronted personally and what you are facing presently. In the midst of your plan are His plans for your life. Which one will you grip? Which one will hold you together? Which one heals .. restores .. and replaces worry with worship? “It’s in Christ that we find out who we are and what we are living for.” If He gets the last word .. why not let Him have the first word, the second, and all the rest in between? If you want to know what God is up to in your life .. then look at Jesus. His life is God’s plan in you. He won’t quit .. you can be sure about that! It only takes a moment …

“Keep your guard up. You’re not the only ones plunged into these hard times. It’s the same with Christians all over the world. So keep a firm grip on the faith. The suffering won’t last forever. It won’t be long before this generous God who has great plans for us in Christ — eternal and glorious plans they are! — will have you put together and on your feet for good. He gets the last word; yes, he does.” 1 Peter 5:8-11 The Message

About Ken Chester

I love seeing Christ become alive and real in someone's life. It is amazing what happens when Jesus moves in and starts to renovate a life. When I'm not riding my road bike, I am usually walking our corgi named Trinity (she came that way) and corgi-lab named Lowrider. Carolyn and I are transforming our backyard. And a book is on the way. ...Stay tuned ... Ken
