What do you want …?

May 8, 2012

“But whoever did want him, who believed he was who he claimed and would do what he said, He made to be their true selves, their child-of-God selves. These are the God-begotten, not blood-begotten, not flesh-begotten, not sex-begotten.” John 1:12-13 The Message

What do you want? What do you really want. What you want is to stop .. exhale and let your spirit become quiet .. and let what you really want rise to the surface. You may be amazed at what appears in your mind and out of your heart. If you want Jesus then you know that believing the He is “who” he says is. What he has done is life-changing. He has made a way for you to leave your old .. false self and be made into something new and true. He wants to make you just like He is: generous inside and out. Can you imagine yourself living and loving others with a generous heart and spirit that true from start to finish? Jesus was and is The One who moved into you world. He didn’t run from disease .. despair .. or the over-driven. He just steps into your world generously offering you grace and allowing the truth of His life to penetrate all of your layers and defenses. Your old nature has to have a lot of defenses. There is a lot to defend and it takes a lot of energy and resources to hold the “old you” together and present and an-all-together front. So, Jesus does what he does best: He’s moved into your neighborhood .. right next door .. available .. and offers you your “true self”. You don’t know on the front end what that looks like because your true self is only known to Christ. And that brings us back to “What do you want”? Do you want Jesus to move in? He will .. even if you haven’t cleaned up the inside of you for a while. He’ll move right in. It only takes a moment …

The Word became flesh and blood and moved into the neighborhood. We saw the glory with our own eyes, the one-of-a-kind glory, like Father, like Son, Generous inside and out, true from start to finish.” John 1:14 The Message

About Ken Chester

I love seeing Christ become alive and real in someone's life. It is amazing what happens when Jesus moves in and starts to renovate a life. When I'm not riding my road bike, I am usually walking our corgi named Trinity (she came that way) and corgi-lab named Lowrider. Carolyn and I are transforming our backyard. And a book is on the way. ...Stay tuned ... Ken
