Indefatigable love … Does He really mean it?

June 7, 2012

“God made history with salvation, He showed the world what he could do. He remembered to love us, a bonus to his dear family, Israel — indefatigable love.” Psalm 98:2-3 The Message

IN-DE-FA-TIG-ABLE Love … what is it? It means you can’t wear out God’s love. You can’t exhaust the love He has for you. He’s not going to run out of what you need to get out of the mess you’re in. He’s not going to give up restoring your life because the source and supply of His love is in Jesus Christ. We don’t mean to but there are times when we are susceptible of thinking that God loves us in proportion to how we are loving Him. You can look at your own life in how you love others. If you life is pushed beyond the margins you may have a limited supply of love. If you’re worn out there may not be anything left. Sometimes you may even get a glimpse of yourself loving conditionally and it is not an attractive picture. BUT GOD isn’t like that. He doesn’t love you according to how you are loving Him. He loves you out of the “sheer generosity” of who He is and that’s the only way He has ever loved. He doesn’t just clear a space for you to find when you’ve worked your way into His presence. He’s cleared that space long before you were ever looking. Indefatigable love is truly a “pure gift”. God’s generosity melts away all the layers of suspicion and hidden guilt we disguise beneath the surfaces of our lives. We think He couldn’t possibly mean what He says. If He only knew … and He already does know. You’re part of His salvation history that is changing the world around you. You can’t wear out His love. You can’t exhaust His supply. You can’t cause the Lord to give up on you. He’s not going to get tired and just take a break from loving you for a season. Whatever the mess .. Whatever the time it takes .. Whatever your life is going to need to be restored? You’ll find it in Christ .. today. It only takes an indefatigable moment …

“Out of sheer generosity he put us in right standing with himself. A pure gift. He got us out of the mess we’re in and restored us to where he always wanted us to be. And he did it by means of Jesus Christ.” Romans 3:24 The Message

About Ken Chester

I love seeing Christ become alive and real in someone's life. It is amazing what happens when Jesus moves in and starts to renovate a life. When I'm not riding my road bike, I am usually walking our corgi named Trinity (she came that way) and corgi-lab named Lowrider. Carolyn and I are transforming our backyard. And a book is on the way. ...Stay tuned ... Ken
