God’s gift of … enough

June 18, 2012

“But may it never be that I would boast, except in the cross of our Lord Jesus Christ, through which the world has been crucified to me, and I to the world.” Galatians 6:14 New American Standard

God found you with His grace. And it was enough. In fact .. God’s enough is the gift you have for today. There will be plenty of this-world’s promises that will try to draw you away from His grace. But the cross of our Lord Jesus Christ has been planted in your heart and ‘nothing can compare to the greatness of knowing Christ’. Jesus did two things for you: He defeated this-world’s hold on you .. and .. He died your life to this-world. It took both sides of his cross. Having this-world crucified to you would not have set you free. You would have still been stuck in yourself. But Christ crucified “you” to this-world on the cross. And that’s where God found you with His grace. You were captured by this-world’s decaying promises and powerless in yourself to change or break free from sin. When Paul was free in Christ he prayed to have his own struggles removed. God’s answer was His enough and it is still enough for your life today. It’s hard to let God’s enough be enough in our weaknesses. We would like to think that we would be even more effective for God’s honor and name if only our weaknesses were removed or transformed. And in God’s enough they are transformed … transformed so that you know in the deepest places of your life that God’s grace is sufficient and enough for all that you are facing today .. and tomorrow. Would you rather face this-world’s idols and illusions in yourself or in knowing that God’s indwelling .. abiding .. and more-than-enough grace is the gift you can never lose today. Christ has moved in and he is assuming responsiblity for your life. Will he be enough for you? He’s promised He will be. Whatever you are facing … it only takes a moment …

“And then he told me. “My grace is enough; it’s all you need. My strength comes into its own in your weakness.” Once I heard that, I was glad to let it happen. I quit focusing on the handicap and began appreciating the gift. It was a case of Christ’s strength moving in on my weakness.” 2 Corinthians 12:9-10 The Message

About Ken Chester

I love seeing Christ become alive and real in someone's life. It is amazing what happens when Jesus moves in and starts to renovate a life. When I'm not riding my road bike, I am usually walking our corgi named Trinity (she came that way) and corgi-lab named Lowrider. Carolyn and I are transforming our backyard. And a book is on the way. ...Stay tuned ... Ken
