You Were Made for Something Real …

June 27, 2012

“As he preached he said, “The real action comes next: The star in this drama, to whom I’m a mere stagehand, will change your life. I’m baptizing you here in the river, turning your old life in for a kingdom life. His baptism — a holy baptism by the Holy Spirit — will change you from the inside out.” Mark 1:7-8

His cousin stirred up trouble. But He stirred up the deep sediments in your heart. Everybody thought the cousin was the main event. He wasn’t. His whole life was a message about the One who would change you from the inside out. It takes God a long time to change you from the inside out. We are born naturally stubborn .. resistant .. and suspicious. But that doesn’t stop God from pursuing your life down every dead end or next “best thing” that promises to make your life better. And to change you from the inside out .. Jesus showed up in your life. He doesn’t push himself on you. He might ask you a question or just let you have “your” space. He’s not going to force you to change. He knows exactly how long and how far it takes for you to really want what He has to offer. Changing you from the inside out is is what grace is all about. You’ll never reach a time or place in your life when you will have reached your fill of grace. You’ll need the never ending supply of grace for the rest of your life .. and He’ll always have a fresh supply for today. And it only takes a moment …

About Ken Chester

I love seeing Christ become alive and real in someone's life. It is amazing what happens when Jesus moves in and starts to renovate a life. When I'm not riding my road bike, I am usually walking our corgi named Trinity (she came that way) and corgi-lab named Lowrider. Carolyn and I are transforming our backyard. And a book is on the way. ...Stay tuned ... Ken
