The Welcoming Gospel …

July 5, 2012

“The Word became flesh and blood, and moved into the neighborhood. We saw the glory with our own eyes, the one-of-a-kind glory, like Father, like Son, Generous inside and out, true from start to finish.” John 1:14 The Message

There are homes filled with love .. security .. and room to play and pray. There are homes ravaged by inner wars .. unending conflicts .. and never healing fractures. And into both worlds Jesus “moves into the neighborhood”. God is welcoming you home .. restoring you in His care .. making your life “true from start to finish”. There is a very real foundation of righteousness .. all debts (life-incurred & sin-seduced) paid .. walls lined with grace upon grace .. every room restored and made new in the image of Christ. The gospel of Jesus Christ is this never-ending search by this Messiah for exiles scattered in countries .. homeless fractured in families .. lost men and women wrapped in wounds of guilt and shame. He’s not going to miss one neighborhood. He’s “generous inside and out” because that’s who He is! When Christ moves into your life .. your neighborhood .. you become part of God’s great family gathering. Underneath all the drama unfolding in a sin-wrecked world is God’s Promise: “On Judgment Day I’ll bring you back home”! And that fact frees you to live today with purpose .. passion .. and a cross-secured peace. He’s going room by room through your heart .. He knows exactly where you long to be restored .. He’s come so you can be made whole .. healed .. and homebound. It only takes a moment …

“The accumulated sorrows of your exile will dissipate. I, your God, will get rid of them for you. You’ve carried those burdens long enough. At the same time, I’ll get rid of all those who’ve made your life miserable. I’ll heal the maimed; I’ll bring home the homeless. In the very countries where they were hated they will be venerated. On Judgment Day I’ll bring you back home — a great family gathering! You’ll be famous and honored all over the world. You’ll see it with your own eyes — all those painful partings turned into reunions!” God’s Promise.” Zephaniah 3:18-20 The Message

About Ken Chester

I love seeing Christ become alive and real in someone's life. It is amazing what happens when Jesus moves in and starts to renovate a life. When I'm not riding my road bike, I am usually walking our corgi named Trinity (she came that way) and corgi-lab named Lowrider. Carolyn and I are transforming our backyard. And a book is on the way. ...Stay tuned ... Ken
