The Gospel: Practicing in Real Life …

“And He said to them, “Go into all the world and preach the gospel to all creation.” Mark 16:15 New American Standard

Your day starts with a not so subtle message to fit in .. to “look and act” normal .. to not let Christ get in the way. That’s not true is every situation but the social and work arenas aren’t opening their arms for you to bring in a cross .. talk about an old life you surrendered and received a new life you didn’t earn. Jesus was very clear to his disciples about their life’s mission. What they did was proclaim, pass along, and practice a life unlike any other lives around them. It hasn’t changed two thousand years later. Your life is to be the “preaching gospel”. What makes the gospel so hard to share .. to pass on .. and even live out in our everyday lives is we are trying to make the gospel fit inside the worlds around us and not the other way. When you gave your life to Christ .. trusted in his finished work on the cross .. and believed that He rose from the dead and has given you a new life .. your foundation for living your life and your priorities all changed. Your old life was nailed on that cross. Your new life is found in His life-saving resurrection. Everything you do should be saturated with the gospel .. the good news of Jesus Christ. But “I” can’t preach? Sure you can. And the more you begin to speak compassionately into other’s lives, the more you begin to share your own life in love and serving. The gospel is annoying because you see just how far short you live up to it and you tell yourself you can do better. You can’t .. but Christ can and will through your life if you will let Him today. It only takes a moment …

“Could it be any clearer? Our old way of life was nailed to the cross with Christ, a decisive end to that sin-miserable life — no longer at sin’s every beck and call. What we believe is this: If we get included in Christ’s sin-conquering death, we also get included in his life-saving resurrection.” Romans 6:6 The Message

About Ken Chester

I love seeing Christ become alive and real in someone's life. It is amazing what happens when Jesus moves in and starts to renovate a life. When I'm not riding my road bike, I am usually walking our corgi named Trinity (she came that way) and corgi-lab named Lowrider. Carolyn and I are transforming our backyard. And a book is on the way. ...Stay tuned ... Ken
