Un-repayable …

July 27, 2012

“I knew you were sheer grace and mercy, not easily angered, rich in love, and ready at the drop of a hat to turn your plans of punishment into a program of forgiveness.” Jonah 4:2 The Message

He is a Covenant-Keeping God pursuing a covenant-breaking people. And He finds us: .. drowning at the bottom of oceans .. lost in forests of anxieties and uncertainties .. trapped in self-righteous prisons .. suffocating in the broken promises of this world .. tempted to compromise with people or things that oppose a God of sheer grace and mercy .. exhausted at our own attempts to fix life .. fearful and despairing .. covered in veneers of shame .. pretending to be good .. running .. running and running for a Savior. There are “Jonah’s” in each of us. The right situation .. circumstance .. or unplanned moment may find us running from God’s incredible plan. And what does God do? He does the unthinkable: He turns plans of punishment (just what we think we deserve or have coming to us) into a love-enriched program of forgiveness. And Jesus turns forgiveness upside down because he doesn’t make it a formula to follow but an un-repayable gift to receive. His program is freely offered .. fully paid .. and faith filling. Where you are weak you find His strength. When you face moments of doubt or despair you find His never-letting-you-go-grace. When you fail you find His forgiveness. When you come running you find Him … and He knows you by name. Jesus is the sinless sacrifice that makes “sheer grace and mercy” come alive in your life. Jesus has come and you can quit running .. running from God .. running from yourself .. running from all the broken promises of this fallen world. It only takes a moment …

“Every person the Father gives me eventually comes running to me. And once that person is with me, I hold on and don’t let go. I came down from heaven not to follow my own whim but to accomplish the will of the One who sent me.” John 6:37-38 The Message

About Ken Chester

I love seeing Christ become alive and real in someone's life. It is amazing what happens when Jesus moves in and starts to renovate a life. When I'm not riding my road bike, I am usually walking our corgi named Trinity (she came that way) and corgi-lab named Lowrider. Carolyn and I are transforming our backyard. And a book is on the way. ...Stay tuned ... Ken
